Most of them were born in 1920 and were not even 18 years of age.
In all, around 30,000 young people were called up to draft. At first, they only had a helping role in certain tasks, but on July 25th 1938 they participated in the Republican offensive of the battle of the Ebro, they were still only children.
They joined the Ebro Army (Army Corps V and XV) and participated in the Battle of the Ebro ... but almost all were killed.
After the war their fate was very diverse. Some went into exile in France, others ended in Franco's prisons and concentration camps. |
